The Flor-Ala
The editorial staff of The Flor-Ala has established the following policies concerning Letters to the Editor submitted for publication during this academic year.
• The deadline for submitting letters is 10 a.m. Monday, the week of publication.
• Letters must not exceed 300 words.
• The Flor-Ala reserves the right to edit submissions for punctuation, style, and length.
• The publication of any letter is left to the discretion of the Editorial Board.
• Only letters accompanied by the writer’s legible signature, current address and telephone number will be considered for publication.
• A writer who hand-delivers a letter must present photo identification.
• The Board prefers that letters be oriented to issues, rather than personalities.
• Priority is given to letters critical of The Flor-Ala, or written in direct response to an editorial, a column, or a news story.
• When the editors deem it necessary for ease of understanding or to clarify facts, an Editor’s Note may accompany a letter.
• The editor(s) may exercise the option of responding to a letter, but will do so in the issue following the one in which the letter appears.
• If a letter exceeds the 300-word limit, the writer will be notified, if that is possible, and asked to edit it to an acceptable length.
